Whale Digital Consulting is a Melbourne web design and local SEO studio. For dental practices that means a complete Google Business Profile, a page for each treatment you want more of, a review routine that stays inside Ahpra's advertising rules, and a monthly report in plain English. Scoped and quoted per practice, with no lock-in.

What does SEO for dentists involve?
Dental SEO is getting your practice found when someone nearby searches for a dentist or a treatment: on the Google map, in the search results and in AI answers. For most practices it comes down to five jobs.
| The job | What it covers | Why it matters for a practice |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Categories, hours, treatments, photos and a booking link | A near-me search on a phone usually shows the map before any website |
| Treatment pages | One page for each treatment you want more of | People search the treatment and the suburb, not just "dentist" |
| Reviews | A profile patients can review, plus a reply policy checked against Ahpra's testimonial rules | Google says reviews can help local ranking, and health advertising law limits how you can use them |
| Speed and mobile | Fast pages, tap-to-call and booking that works out of hours | Toothache doesn't keep business hours |
| Monthly report | Calls, bookings and the searches behind them | You see what moved, in plain English, and decide if it's worth keeping |
People pick a dentist they can get to. They search on their phone, glance at the map, read a few reviews and book. If your practice isn't in that first glance, the choice gets made without you.
Local SEO for your practice: a complete Google Business Profile, treatment pages written the way patients search, reviews handled inside the testimonial rules, and copy checked against Ahpra's advertising guidelines before it goes live.
The aim is to show up when someone nearby is ready to book, for the treatments you actually want more of, without paying for every click.
What dental SEO needs (and what just burns budget)
A verified Google Business Profile, treatment pages that answer what patients ask, reviews handled carefully, and a site that loads fast on a phone.
Fifty near-identical suburb pages, bought links, or a contract that outlasts your patience.
Health advertising has its own law, and Ahpra's guidelines make the practice responsible for content written on its behalf. We write to those guidelines, flag anything risky, and you see every word before it's published.
We work on the few things that move bookings, and tell you straight when something isn't worth the spend.
Treatment pages patients search for
Emergency dentist
The most urgent search a practice gets. The page needs your hours, what counts as an emergency, a number that taps to call, and what happens if someone rings after close.
Check-up and clean
The everyday booking. Say what's included, how health fund claims work at your practice and how to book.
Invisalign and orthodontics
A long decision with a lot of reading behind it. Plain answers on the process and what changes the cost keep people on your page. If you're a general dentist offering aligners, Ahpra says wording like "working primarily in" is less likely to mislead than calling yourself a specialist.
Dental implants
Patients read carefully before they commit to an implant. Explain the steps, who it suits and the risks in plain English. The National Law rules out advertising that creates an unreasonable expectation of beneficial treatment.
Kids dentistry
Parents look for close to school, good with nervous kids, and easy to book. Show the team, the room and what a first visit looks like.
Cosmetic and whitening
The pages most likely to drift into claims Ahpra's guidelines warn against: a superior service, "pain-free" without mentioning the risks, or before-and-after photos that weren't taken the same way.
We're based in Bayside and work with practices across Melbourne. If your suburb isn't listed anywhere here, it's still covered.
Google reviews and Ahpra: what a practice can and can't do
Testimonials are out of your advertising
The National Law bans advertising a regulated health service with testimonials or purported testimonials. Ahpra's guidelines define a testimonial as a positive statement about the clinical side of care. So patient praise about a treatment stays off your website, ads and posts, even when it's genuine. Reviews you don't control aren't your job to remove
Ahpra's guidelines say advertisers aren't responsible for removing testimonials on platforms they don't control, like Google reviews, and the ban doesn't stop patients posting reviews there. Sharing a clinical review in your own advertising is different, and the guidelines say to take care when replying on a third-party site. Source: Ahpra's advertising FAQ.
Comments about the practice itself are different
Feedback about customer service or communication style, with no reference to clinical care, isn't a testimonial under the National Law. If you show it on your site, Ahpra's advice is to publish it complete and unedited. Source: Ahpra's testimonial tool.
