Best web design companies in Melbourne for small business (2026)

This list of web design companies is written by a Melbourne web design company, so you know where we stand. We are on it too, last, under the same rules as everyone else.

We looked at nine companies that build websites for small businesses in Melbourne or across Australia, plus ourselves. For each one you get what they do, who they suit, and the starting price if their own website publishes one. If it doesn't, we say that instead of guessing.

What we compared

We compared four things, all read from each company's own website on 31 October 2026: starting price (only if printed; "from" prices are starting points, not quotes), what's included, who they build for, and delivery time where stated.

We did not test their work, ring their clients, or rank them. The order runs from the lowest published starting price to companies with no published price, then us.

The companies

CoreWebHub

Melbourne agency with three fixed packages: Starter at $1,200 for a five-page mobile-first site delivered in 3 to 5 business days, Professional at $3,200 with a booking system and full SEO, and Enterprise from $5,000 for custom web apps. The site says hosting is free on Vercel, with optional SEO retainers from $500 a month and an AI chatbot add-on. They publish industry pages for trades, dentists, lawyers, accountants and restaurants.

Suits: a small business that wants a fixed price and a fast turnaround, and is comfortable with a React build instead of WordPress. Starting price: $1,200. Source: corewebhub.com.au/pricing · checked 2026-10-31.

Web4Business

Based in Sydney, with packages priced on the page: Starter $1,440, Business $1,990 and Premium $2,520, all WordPress builds with a choice of custom designs and a stated completion time of 7 business days. They also offer web design coaching if you want to build it yourself, and a 3-month payment plan on the Business package.

Suits: a tradie or small service business anywhere in Australia that wants a WordPress site at a fixed price and may want to edit it themselves later. Starting price: $1,440. Source: web4business.com.au/web-design-for-tradies · checked 2026-10-31.

Made 4 Tradies

Trade-only web agency with three tiers: Core at $1,999, Max at $2,999 with 10 local suburb pages, and Pro at $6,498 with 10 more suburb pages. Every site is live in 7 days and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. After the build there is a compulsory maintenance plan from $99 a month covering hosting and upkeep, and an optional $500 "Launchpad" pack where they write your pages from one interview.

Suits: electricians, plumbers, solar installers and other trades that want suburb pages for local search and don't want to write a word themselves. Starting price: $1,999 plus from $99 a month. Source: made4tradies.com.au · checked 2026-10-31.

Fox & Lee

Melbourne agency, 17+ years in, 20+ staff, building custom WordPress and WooCommerce sites. Their site says a typical custom business website starts between $3,500 and $5,500, and all sites are built with SEO and AI search in mind. They also run local SEO, Google Ads and WordPress care plans, and publish free tools like a rank tracker and a Google Business audit.

Suits: an established small business that wants one agency for the site, SEO and ads, and has the budget for a custom build. Starting price: $3,500+. Source: foxandlee.com.au · checked 2026-10-31.

Growth Local

Growth Local sells a monthly "lead generation and CRM system" for tradies and local service businesses, and the website is one part of it alongside CRM setup, AI follow-up, a voice AI receptionist and ServiceM8 setup. Pricing page lists Standard Implementation at $397 a month and Lead Gen or Custom Implementation at $697 a month, with communication and AI usage fees on top.

Suits: a trade business that wants the website, CRM and follow-up automation run as one system on a monthly fee, rather than owning a site outright. Starting price: $397 a month. Source: growthlocal.com.au/pricing · checked 2026-10-31.

Confetti Design

Melbourne Bayside agency (Brighton, Hampton, Cheltenham and surrounding suburbs) building small business sites on WordPress and online stores on Shopify and WooCommerce. Their site says they are an established agency with 100+ five-star reviews and respond to quotes within 2 hours. They publish a plain-English guide to Shopify plan costs, which is useful even if you don't hire them.

JIADESIGN

Melbourne agency doing WordPress web design, SEO and custom AI work such as chatbots, data search tools and automated systems. Their service page lists WordPress development, web design and UX, app development for iOS and Android, and SEO. They also run a free SEO ranking checker on their site.

Quazic

Chadstone-based agency that describes itself as conversion driven and says it has built over 100 websites. Industry pages cover hotels, not-for-profits, construction, law firms, medical, NDIS providers and tradies. Services run from digital strategy (goal mapping, personas, customer journey) through web design to acquisition funnels and AI automations.

Suits: a small business or not-for-profit that wants strategy work done before the build starts. Starting price: not listed on their site. Source: quazic.com.au · checked 2026-10-31.

BSO Digital

Melbourne digital agency building WordPress and Shopify sites, with website maintenance, hosting, logo design, Google Ads, SEO, email automation and live chat under one roof. They offer a free website audit and list AHPRA compliance as a service, which matters if you run a health practice.

Suits: a small business, especially a medical or allied health practice, that wants a full-service agency and ongoing maintenance. Starting price: not listed on their site. Source: bsodigital.com.au · checked 2026-10-31.

Whale Digital Consulting (that's us)

Melbourne Bayside company building fixed-price small business websites and, separately, AI automation. Cafe and restaurant packages start at A$499 for a Starter build; every other industry, trades included, starts from A$699, a fixed price quoted upfront with free hosting and no lock-in. Care plans are optional at A$99 or A$199 a month. We also run Local SEO + AEO from A$490 a month if you want the site found in Google and in AI answers.

Honest limits: we are a small team, and we don't publish client result numbers because we don't have enough of them yet to be worth quoting.

Suits: a tradie, cafe or local service business that wants a fixed price, a site it can run itself, and no monthly fee unless it chooses one. Starting price: A$499 (restaurant packages), A$699 (all other industries). Source: whaledigitalconsulting.com.au/services · checked 2026-10-31.

Questions we get asked

How much does a small business website cost in Melbourne?

On the sites we checked, published starting prices run from about A$500 to A$3,500 for a one-off build, and from about A$400 a month for a website bundled into a marketing system. Custom builds with strategy work go higher. Many agencies don't publish a price at all and quote per project.

Should I pick a Melbourne agency or one in another city?

For a standard small business site it rarely matters technically. It matters if you want to meet in person, if local search is the main goal and the agency knows your suburbs, or if you want someone who can come to the shop.

Is a monthly website plan better than paying once?

A monthly plan spreads the cost and usually includes hosting and updates, but you may not own the site if you stop paying. A one-off build costs more upfront and you own it. Ask every company what happens to the site if you leave.

How we chose

We started with companies that came up when we tested AI search engines for "web design agency Melbourne small business" questions earlier this year, and added companies with public small-business pricing. We then read each company's own website on 31 October 2026 and recorded only what it says. We used no paid data and scraped no review sites, and nobody asked to be included. If a site showed no price, we wrote "not listed" instead of estimating one. We wrote our own entry last, to the same rules.

If you run one of these companies and something here is out of date, email us and we'll correct it.

Last checked: 31 October 2026.
